Whether
you're looking for the perfect room, perfect photos, or just a great
evening out, cambodiahome.com is where insiders go to
maximize their experience and discover the best of Cambodia.
Kompong Phluk is a village
located about 25 km east of Chhong Kneas.
This village is only accessible by boat.
Many consider Kompong Phluk more interesting
than Chhong Kneas because of its “floating
forest”. Kompong Phluk also differs itself
from Chhong Kneas because its people are
living in houses that are surrounded by
water while Chhong Kneas is a floating
community that lives on boats.
A trip to Kompong Phluk includes a
one-and-a-half hour boat ride over the Tonle
Sap that gives you spectacular views of the
lake. You can choose to have lunch at one of
the local houses before you change into
small local boats that depart for an
exploration of the floating forest. Once
arrived at the floating forest you can
either indulge into the serenity of nature
or dare to have a swim.
A visit to Kompong Phluk takes a full day
and will cost about US$15 a person. Boats
can be rented from tour operators in Siem
Reap town or from the harbour in Phnom Krao.
Lunch in Kompong Phluk and the boat trip to
the floating forest are not included and
should be paid separately, which adds US$5
to the total.
